Four-Year Graduation Guarantee

Saint Martin’s University’s four-year graduation guarantee ensures that first year students may receive an undergraduate degree in one of our high-demand majors within four academic years: Engineering, Nursing, Education or Business Administration.

As an incoming student, you'll enroll in our four-year graduation plan, which outlines a clear path to earning your degree. If, for any reason, you are unable to graduate on time due to a required course not being offered, we will work with you to authorize an appropriate substitute, waive the requirement, or cover the costs for you to complete the course in the next available semester.

Criteria for the Four-Year Graduation Guarantee Program:

  • Be a first-year, first-time student starting in the fall semester.
  • Submit a signed agreement by the end of the fourth week of fall semester of the first year.
  • Declare major by the end of the sophomore year (No minors)
  • Maintain a minimum of 14-credit hours during your first fall semester and 15-credit-hour course load each fall and spring semester following*.
  • Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher and earn sufficient grades to progress to the next level of required courses.
  • Pass pre-major or prerequisite courses for your major with a grade of C or better.**
  • Meet with your assigned academic advisor at least once per semester.
  • Monitor completed coursework outlined in your major’s yearly plan and academic progress through Stellic.
  • Maintain continuous, full-time enrollment for eight semesters.
  • Comply with and respond to all University communications regarding your academic progress.
  • Submit Application for financial aid (FAFSA or WASFA) annually if you are receiving Financial Aid.
  • Apply for graduation by the published deadlines.
  • Ensure there are no registration holds or restrictions that would prevent you from registering for classes during your assigned registration period.
  • Nursing students must be directly admitted into the nursing program and meet nursing requirements.
  • Engineering students must declare engineering as their major and must place into calculus I in the first semester.

*Some programs may require a 16- or 17-credit hour term due to required laboratories or requirements.

**Some programs may require grades of C or higher for pre-major or prerequisite courses. Please check grade requirements with your academic advisor before registering each semester.

***The Four-Year Graduation Guarantee applies to students pursuing a traditional four-year bachelor’s degree.
